Hitchin Swimming Club (HSC) is a competitive swimming club.
Our aim is to:
1) Provide a safe, enjoyable and friendly environment to allow all our swimmers to fulfil their potential as competitive swimmers
2) Develop and support swimmers at local, county, regional and national levels
3) Be seen as a centre of excellence for running an amateur sports club
4) Ensure those involved in running the club enjoy doing so
The entire running of the club is geared around achieving these objectives.
The club is fortunate to have a very strong coaching staff and a supportive committee. As a not for profit organisation, we are also very grateful to businesess or organizations wish to support us. Click below for more details.
We have in excess of 210 swimmers who train at Hitchin Swimming Centre, St Christopher School, Letchworth and Inspire Luton.
Swim21- the club is Swim21 Skill Development Level accredited.
Swim21 is a nationally recognized scheme designed to increase the professionalism of swimming clubs within Great Britain.
Being Swim21 accredited also means that Hitchin Swimming Club is “Clubmark” accredited – this is the Sport England mark of high quality junior sports clubs.
Beyond Hitchin - Hitchin Swimming Club plays a strong role within Hertfordshire ASA, supporting swimming across the county and ensuring that our viewpoint is heard. Lee Portingale has coached the Hertfordshire County Team. Mark Lander and Tina Lander have been the Hertfordshire Team County Manager. Grant Chivers, often announces at county events and is the finance officer for Hertfordshire ASA. Jean Cook, a life member of Hitchin Swimming Club, is the current president of ASA London.
We have a number of qualified officials in the club who work hard at both our own galas and others. These include: Grant Chivers, Louise Hughes, Luke Ames, Paul Evens. Susan Russell-Rogers.
We believe that playing our part in developing swimming beyond Hitchin is an important part of meeting our aims.
